For one of my education classes I have to write a research paper on anything to do with schools. It could be a law, funding, teacher paycuts, NCLB, lack of recess, art budget cuts, etc... I decided to do my paper on child abuse and why teachers should be required to report suspected child abuse. While conducting my search for information, I came across an article that defended and attacked mandatory child abuse. In fact, I came across more than one article that attacked mandatory child abuse!!
I could not believe my eyes. Some people do not believe in mandatory child abuse! I am all for reporting child abuse. Child abuse can be a life or death situation for some children. I understand why some people would shy against it, but the consequences of leaving a child in an abusive living situation could mean perminent disabilities (both mental and physical) and death. I realize that some foster home situations are not always the best, but if there is the smallest chance of getting that child out of an abusive and potentially fatal situation, I am all for it. No child deserves to live with abuse, or believing that they had brought the abuse on themselves.

Why
Why do we teach?
Some people teach because they love the interaction with America's future, some people teach because they feel the need to give back, and some teachers teach because they have a passion for knowledge and the desire to share their knowledge with future generations. I want to teach because I love children. I have always worked with them and I can't see myself without them. I want to be able to help them accomplish their wildest dreams, and I want to continue to learn. I want to be able to stop living life quickly and be able to slow down and appreciate all the small things in life.
What is the difference between school "work" and student "learning"?
School work enforces classroom learning. School work helps the the student review what he/she learned that day. The school work is also a chance for children who get no help at home, to get help in school.
What makes for good teaching?
A good teacher makes good teaching, but there are many qualities that make up a good teacher. Good teachers have a good connection with his/her students. If the students feel comfortable with the teacher then it makes for a better learning enviornment. Good teachers also have a passion for what they do. Good teachers must also know how to make learning enjoyable. This is one of the hardest aspect for teachers because not everyone learns alike or has the same subject interest. The teacher must be able to interest all of his/her students into the subject. A Good teacher must also be able to keep abrest of new techniques and his/her student's academic studies. One important quality in a good teacher is the desire for his/her students to succed in everything and anything they want to. All of these qualities in a good teacher make up good teaching.
